i am so trying this!
you made such an entertaining and informative video. by far the best one ive seen for mochi icecream. please make more videos!
thanks!
So I tried this recipe and it worked great. Tastes awesome! My only problem…next time be sure to use a LARGE microwave safe bowl. I thought the bowl I was using was going to be big enough. Nope. I was left with a super gooey sticky mess in the microwave.
ummm, so I know this is an old video, but do you know if there are any easy substitutes for the rice flour?
Its pretty vital ingredient.
@candypalau14 Sorry, not sure about this one! All I can say is: give it a shot and hope for the best… :-/
@JellyBeaniie16 just be creative and find any other house hold item (a clean item is prefered) or just go buy a rolling pin…:)
HEEEYYYYY!!!! :O HEEEYYYY!!!…..Now that i’ve gotten your attention i would like to ask a question…can you make the mochi this way ‘without’ the sugar?? its way to sweet for my taste..i was gonna try makin it with no sugar but i was afraid the different proportions of water and mochiko would effect the outcome…suggestions??
@BlackmagerVlogs Unfortunately the ice cream melting is kind of inevitable, so it’s mostly a matter of containing as much leakage as possible – also I’d recommend popping each one in the freezer as you finish them, that way they won’t completely melt while you’re working on the rest. Good luck!
@TheTofuGuru Thank you so much for that (you’re one of the few youtubers who actually responds back to their video comments!
Anyways, how about the ice cream though? Did you find it melting? I tried doing it again even when the Mochi was cold and I ended up having ice cream drip out. >.>
@BlackmagerVlogs I usually let the mochi cool down before attempting to fold in the ice cream – also if the mochi is particularly stubborn, it helps to get the edges wet before you pinch them shut… and be sure to pinch them hard!
Oh gosh I’ve tried doing this. The mochi turns out yummy, but I just CANNOT fold the ice cream in. Dx It always melts WAAAY too fast that it starts to leak out of the Mochi. and I cant even get the mochi to fold up nicely like yours. ;____; Even when the ice cream is rock hard I can’t get it to work.
When you fold the ice cream in, is the mochi still warm?
