Zipporah Beauty Product Review
Zipporah Beauty ( aka Dkjames5 on YouTube) sent me some products to try a while back. Life got crazy but I finally put together my review! Quick thoughts on the line: 1) Shampoo – gets hair very clean and smells nice but I am not into shampoos 2) Conditioner – Good smell and Good “Slip”. I enjoy this. 3) Vanilla Mint Moisturizing Serum – My FAVORITE of all of them – keeps hair well moisturized while wearing protective styles. My yarn braids left my hair so SOFT after dipping them in the serum before braiding it into my hair. I definitely recommend this product!!! 4)Green Tea Hair and Body Butter – only used on hair and it is good. I like it – smells like cookies 
5) Cocoa Butter Delight – My favorite of the butters. Very nice product I recommend this too especially if you like the moisture of She but no the consistency. This gives you a useable moisturizer without the crumbly that typically goes with Shea useage. I really like it. Thanks Zipporah Beauty for letting me try out your products and I am so glad to see another African American queen making her mark on the world through business!!!! Yeah for you!!!! Where did you get it? I got it at a navy exchange in my area. It’s for military officers. 3.) How did you get it since it comes out in October? Pinhead Gunpowder – 2nd Street
Pinhead Gunpowder is an East Bay, California punk rock band consisting of Aaron Cometbus (drums, lyrics), Bill Schneider (bass), Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Jason White (guitar, vocals). Mike Kirsch (guitar, vocals) was part of the original band formed in 1990, but left the band citing personal differences with Green Day (the band for which Billie Joe Armstrong is most famous) and their major label debut in 1994 with Dookie. The band’s name comes from a brand of “high octane” green tea served at the Arcata co-op and discovered serendipitously by Aaron Cometbus during one of his many dumpster diving adventures

Recently, the folks at AGWA de Bolivia were kind enough to send me a few mini-bottles of their new herbal coca-leaf based liqueur. My co-worker George and I sampled it recently and give you our feedback here in this video. We were really pleasantly surprised. I’m not crazy about herbal liqueurs in general. For my taste, they can be a little too, well, herbal. Too much like leaves or green tea. However, we both really enjoyed AGWA de Bolivia, perhaps a little too much. They originally sent me 4 little airplane-serving-sized bottles of AGWA, and now I wish they’d sent me a whole big bottle (especially since a friend got into my freezer one night and drank one before I knew it.) If you can find this in your liquor store or at your favorite bar, do it up. We tried mixing it with Red Bull, which was okay (Red Bull can be so overpowering), but it was decent on the rocks (a splash of soda and lime would’ve made it better) and the AGWA de Bolivia Rainforest Caipirinha (AGWA de Bolivia, muddled limes, brown sugar) was outstanding. Really wish I still had some left. Going to find a liquor store nearby that sells some as soon as I finish uploading this video. Check it out and let me know what you think. Japanese Tea Ceremony – Chakai Chanoyu Chado Sadou
I filmed this video at a demonstration put on by tea ceremony teachers in Shizuoka, Japan. All of the people on stage and nearly everyone seated (with the exception of Emily, Yumiko and I) are either tea ceremony teachers or students. We were fortunate to be invited to sit closest to the stage from which vantage I attempted to discreetly shoot video (bad manners I fear). I apologize for the jumpy, poorly edited nature of this video which was shot while I attempted to take part in the ceremony. The video is also incomplete as I ran out of film near the end. Tea gatherings such as this are called “chakai” in Japanese while the ceremony itself has several names including, “chanoyu”, “chado” and “sadou” (the last name is often used for ceremonies performed by Zen Buddhists). The name of this ceremony is often translated as “the way of tea”. Some important points to note in the ceremony include the very careful and refined movements of the woman making the tea as well as her tools and methods of use. Another important aspect of the ceremony was the way the hostess and guests took time to admire the seasonal display of art and flower arrangements in the little alcove at back and how the guests were careful to admire the beauty of their tea bowls after they had enjoyed their tea. Watch how each of the women is careful to turn her bowl twice while handling it in order to ensure that the front (most beautiful) part of the bowl is facing away from herself and towards her host/guest …
